Lake Ontario loon seal

Unofficial cartographic desk

Lake Ontario

EST. 1615 · Maps don't lie

The lake already had a name.

The Lake

Binational water, printed Ontario. This unofficial cartographic desk keeps the Against record: charts first, costumes second. The water did not file a change-of-name form.

Pl. I — Keep Ontario. New York · Canada

The ferries still say it. The weather radio still says it. The loon on the water does not take instruction from a restyle. This desk publishes the Against gallery of the same unofficial museum, and hangs the older name where a visitor can read it without a brochure.

Unofficial. Not a government website. Not We the People. A cartographic desk, not a costume shop.

History

The name is older than the argument. EST. 1615. Maps don't lie. Charts, ferries, weather radio, and the water itself still say Ontario. A restyle dated August 27, 2026 does not unprint four centuries of paper.

This desk hangs that fact beside the loon, played straight. Executive Order 14422 is recorded as a date on the wall, not as a correction to the chart. The chart was already correct.

Compass

Same instrument as the Pro desk. Different quadrants. Cartographic purists to the southwest; the rest of us just want the printed name to match the water.
